Ok. now what? i don't feel any different. I always thought to myself that once you graduate from Uni. you're like all grown up and shit. To be honest I don't feel one bit grown up. I still don't know anything. I don't feel comfortable taking on large responsibilities. I can't live up to what that iron ring symbolizes -- at least not yet. My friends seem to be doing great. One is going to Stanford for Masters, another is off to Upenn for his PhD. Still others are off to well paying jobs in silicon valley. Me? i'm just a Contract RA making average wage. Not just ANY RA. I'm here to fix up other people's messups. Maybe that is a consolation prize. Somebody out there thinks I know what I'm doing. There's a new guy at the office today (I think he's new, or maybe he's just back from holiday). His telephone voice, I find, louder than his normal speaking voice! My colleague who sits next to me got pretty annoyed by him too. But she did something about it whereas I just sat there and tried to tolerate him, hoping that he'll hang up soon. Am I that much of a wuss? I just don't want to get on anybody's "bad" side, since it's only my 2nd week here. Still, I don't think I would've done anything even if I had worked here for a year. I think this happens a lot too. i.e. last year with my roomate and the car. High temp, lotsa sun, a little smog. Not bad at all. I am having a hard time understanding why people here call this a "heat wave". Yeah, it's a little warmer than typical Toronto weather but it's nothing to go crazy over. My friends who just returned from SE Asia also agree with me. This is child's play when it comes to heat. Torontonians should try walking down the streets of Hong Kong when it's 30 Degrees with 98% relative humidity. Now *THAT* is heat. It literally feels like a sauna. Those babies I tell ya... posted by Ben | | | 12:05 PM Friday, June 03, 2005 I'm finally back in Toronto. I've never been so impressed by the cleanliness of this city and how polite people are. Really, after a month in China, you can really tell the difference. I've moved into my new ghetto apartment. It's a lot closer to campus than the previous place and rent's about the same. Problem: internet is apparently broken there. Problem: There's no cable! I'm freaking out. I am really tempted to just subscribe for a year.
