OPAMP is done! We are going to show the layout to the supervisor on Monday for critique -- and I'm sure there's going to be a tonne of it. I am glad that we are somewhat on track. We might even finish before the start of school. GO TEAM.

My roomie took me to see Broken Social Scene perform at the Harbourfront Centre yesterday. I don't usually (more like hardly ever) listen to this genre but I liked it a lot. In fact I want to hear more. Their sound rocks (no pun intended). The catchy melodic lines are backed by fantastic instrumentation. I liked what I heard. The band played non stop for nearly two hours. There was one song that really caught my attention. It was sung by this girl whose name I've completely forgotten. I think she also sings in a local band called Metric. Her voice was hot. 'nuff said. So was the song. Maybe it was her voice that made the song hot. I dunno. HOT.

I'm taking a well deserved day off after a 12-hour layout marathon that resulted in a complete re-work of the device arrangement amongst other things. Everytime we see our supervisor, our design gets chaged...err....refined. I just want to get this done by the time school starts (in 1.5 weeks). Really, I do. It seems as though the main OPAMP component never gets finalized! Even if we finalize it this week, I will need time to integrate it into the main design and run LVS, parasitic extraction!!! Aieyaaa....this is gonna suck.

It's time to go back to more GRE vocab today. I haven't learned any new words since Sunday and, I am beginning to forget words that I have learned before!

Got a TV now. Been watching the games on and off. Digital Cable was included in the rent, which is nice. The service comes with time shifting, meaning we get the west coast feeds. The service doesn't come with all the channels, however. That's a good thing because I need to cut down -- not that I am watching a lot TV these days.

I woke up this morning and there it was....a Microwave! I'm not sure how it got there but I sincerely thank the individual(s) that put it there. I tried to ask my roomate but he was incomprenehsible. Would *YOU* understand "ummm errrr yeahaa I ....grrrr pflufff grre arrrrrgggg"? It was probably him. Rockin'. Phoneline is up today. If I only had a working phone. Turns out the cordless that I brought down from home stopped working. I suspect the basestation is malfunctioning. I'm really not sure why. sucks.

Mannnn...I've completely forgotten about updating the blog. Design project is taking up the majority of my day. It's practically a 9-5 job. Good news is that, I've eliminated all the DRCs. LVS is nearly done too. Just 3 discrepancies to remove. They should be easy. We showed our supervisor the layout and he didn't seem to have too many comments on it other than to rotate it 90-deg to the left. I'm worried because of the lack of input. I'm even more worried about the fact that our device might not even work when it's fabbed because of my crappy layout. The pressure builds!

The school registrar is stupid and obstinate. I asked them if they're gonna add more spaces to some of the courses that are already full and said "well probably not". If anyone reading this is thinking of dropping ECE416, do it! Do it NOW mofo!

Ok, so Flavours was not as delicious as I had thought. I suppose the point of the story did get across to the audience: coping with "traditional" (maybe even anachronistic?) views of South Asian culture in modern Western civilization. It's funny how everybody was trying to get married to each other. It's true what the review said: Take the cast of Friends, make them brown and give them jobs in the IT industry. Some of the actors seemed to struggle with their parts. Most of the time they were simply, as a friend of mine so aptly puts it, "reading their lines".

Alien Vs. Preditor: Go see it! This move just goes to show how large budgets can make any cool.

OOHH it's Friday the 13th. The Olympic games is starting today. Isn't that a riot? I don't think the Greeks really give a rat's behind about Friday the 13. They have Zeus and the gang watching over them from Mount Olympus. Booya I say, Boooo YA.

I'm going to see two movies today tonight:

1. Flavors a film about South Asians in America working in their somewhat (err...totally) stereotypical job in the IT industry. I missed the chance to see this at the SF Int'l Asian American Film Fest back in March. In fact i'm happy I didn't see it in Cali because the ticket in Toronto is $10, which is like $7.65-ish USD. If you haven't realized it by now, I'm a frickin' miser.

2. Predator Vs. Alien. 'Nuff said. $14 at Paramount. Perhaps I'm not as cheap as I thought. Score!

Screw commercial radio....Campus radio is what's hot right now. I really enjoy listening to Stanford's KZSU and UofT's CIUT. The eclectic mix of programming which includes Indian beats (ya know, bhangra and movie tunes) to Spanish Rap beats (no pun intended) re-circulated Top 40 crap anytime. Serious respect also goes to the BBC for having their entire network available on the internet via live streaming. Their programming is by far one of the best in public radio. The CBC should learn a thing or two. I really can't blame the CBC for not trying. The lack of money and funding really holds them back.

Today was a fairly productive day. The OPAMP circuit that I've been laying out is practically done. It would've been finished sooner if the specs (transistor sizes) didn't keep changing on me but I digress. All DRCs are gone. All connections have been made (but still need to be verified once more). If all goes well, I can start LVS tomorrow. What's LVS? Google it and find out. Google: it's what's hot right now.

Averted disaster just now. The index page was being redirected. Traced it down to an old line of javascript which points to a site that no longer exists. *pats myself on the back*

I am still in shock. Rick James is dead! I never knew who he was until about a year ago when I started listening to 70's and 80's jams on local Bay Area radio station KISQ . He contributed a lot to the genre and definitely influenced artists that came after him.

Moved in to the new place last night. AC's so cold! It's great that the rent includes digital cable, but it means NOTHING if there's no TV to watch it on. I think this new place is definitely a step up from the Toronto apartment I rented during 3rd year. Roomie #2 seems to like it. I hope roomie #3 is cool with it too.

It's incredible to see the amount of hoopla surrounding Clinton's visit in Toronto. I for one don't see what the hype is all about. It's just a book. Oh yeah, there were those "entrepreneurs" who waited in line to get their book signed just so that they can sell it on eBay. How distasteful is that. I give it: two thumbs down.

Just got back from the most tiring day of cleaning EVER. The apartment was filthy....Those old tenants weren't as clean as they claimed. NEwho with a bit of elbow grease, bleach, Mr. Clean (btw that shite rocks big time)and mom's help I think we now have a pretty decent apartment.

I didn't realize today was the supposed "Civic" holiday. Stupid Canada and their pseudo holidays....I'm angry because the stupid bus wasn't running. I waited for 45mins before someone (in a car) drove by and said there was no BUS. DAMN YOU York Region Transit. It's great to have neighbours, because one of them offered to drive mom and I down to Steeles to catch good 'ol TTC. YRT is going on my black list of transit companies.
