Happy Halloween.

MIdterms are done.

Started my new job (it's great so far, but i've only worked 2 hours).

I need to search for a perm. job because the prospect of grad school isn't looking great. The midterms were a bit too funky. (Damn you GSES for not having any good postings). Hopefully If IAESTE works out, I'll be bloggin' from Berlin this time next year.

Waiting for my old exams to print so I decided to look up some deals on techbargains. Turns out, a buddy from USC got Inspiron 700m's for $750 after instant rebate from e-coupons! bastards didn't tell me there was a sale.

Anyway I'm surprised that there's a coupon that works even in Canada: $5 off $25 http://www.vh1.com/interact/sweepstakes/old_navy/thanks.jhtml

A couple of things. I'm gonna do this fast since i'm really hungry right now. Ok it's been a while so a lot of stuff happened. I don't proof read so read at your own risk.

1. Tapeout of course is done. I almost had a nervous breakdown because of it. I suppose it's worth the price since I won't have to deal with the project for the next 4 months. The 2am phone call sucked big time, and I'm still almost two weeks behind on course reading and course work DAMN.

2. I got a job! Yes a Job. I'll be working at the PEY office as an assistant (read: Malcolm's Bitch). It's a work-study thing so hours are very little. That's fine because I don't intend on working more than 5 hours/week. I haven't asked them how much pay is yet. I never know when is the right time for that. I guess I'll learn eventually.

3. THere was an ATI job fair on Saturday (which I attended). The line up was literally around the block. Luckily I got there about 30 mins before the official "start" and was in front of the line. The people that I went with are real keeners so it worked out well. The interview was weird, very informal. I had no idea what was available so I just made some BS up saying that I want to do CAD and/or IC Characterization and/or Verification. I wonder if they'll call me back. My resume was pretty impressive with that RF bandpass filter and all.

4. OGS application was submitted. My statement of interest needed more work but I think it's sufficient. My grades are so borderline, i'm not even sure I'll pass the first round of reviews. If not, then it's a waste of $10 for the stupid Official Transcript.

5. IEASTE --> Yeah i'm gonna apply for that. It's a good experience, and a good backup in case nobody accepts me into grad school and I can't find myself a job. I've narrowed my search down to the following countriesl: Germany, UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden. I think I'm leaning towards the non-Eglish speaking countries just cuz I'll have a chance to learn a new language.

6. MIDTERMS! I have two next week. It's on Optics and Communications systems. I'm really worried about Optics cuz the course material seems easy but the questions are insanely hard. Plus I have two labs next week.

7. Internet Died. The landlord's router broke. My roomates offered to buy a new one for him and have it re-imbursed. Of course murphy's laws prvailed once again because the Landloard bought a new router/switch thing at the same time that my roomates went out to get one for him. We took ours back for a refund...and the computer store made $8 off me (it was my fault for not telling the landlord not to go buy the router himself) because of their 20% restocking fee. I could've had a pretty good meal with ath $8....

8. I'm hungry.

I'm really friggin' tired but I jsut want to say, tapeout is more or less DONE. 2 of the 3 designs are good to go. The last one is a bit screwy but I'll leave that for another post.

Thank GAWD it's Thanksgiving long weekend because i really need the time to catch up on school work. I've been utterly clueless on everything I've supposedly 'learned' this week.

i'm outta here

Wow it's October already. And 1 week left till tapeout. I'm excited. This time next week, I can technically go on design project hiatus for the next 4 months. I still have to do progress reports, but that's nothing compared to 3 months of straight up layout. Sweet meat.

Class and studying is getting in the way of sleep. I've gotten too used to getting my 8 hours back in Cali. Sleep is like a drug. Once you're hooked, it's hard to get un-hooked. a definite downside.

I went out for Japanese tonight with my roomies and another buddy who also went to co-op. I think we're all just sick of cooking. The wait was long! Maybe takeout was the better way to go. Anyway...during dinner we got into this whole discussion on how dudes hug. I don't know how but we did. Well it's kinda true when you think about it. Note how when most guys 'hug' they tend to hook their arms up and do the shoulder tap. Just to keep it on the straight and narrow? It doesn't seem as funny now that i'm acutally writing about it.
