Wednesday, July 27, 2005 I took on a second job last weekend. Call me crazy but I need an escape from my normal job. I am once again a video store clerk, working 6 hours a week. The manager liked me so much when I used to work there she offered to take me back if I ever wanted to return -- and I did. To be honest, I did it for the perks. Mainly, the free rentals and other random discounts at various retail outlets. I borrowed a VCR from the store (it's on loan indefinitely hahaha) to wach the few rentals that are still being released on tape. DVD is the way to go for sure. I'm torn between a computer DVD reader or a stand-alone dvd player. Anyways, I've finally found something to occupy myself with when I've no where to go or nothing to do. Life is a lonely one when there are no roomies to talk to. I rented 3 movies so far: 1. Beaches -- Bette midler and Barbra Hershey. Straight up chick flick, but really sad. Guys, if you wanna have a good cry for whatever reason, this is the one to rent. 2. Kinsey -- Liam Neeson aka Jedi guy. Very good biopic about the man who changed the way we look at sexuality. I'm sure it's missing a lot of details, but the film is entertaining nonetheless. Warning though, a bit frontal male nudity and kissing. Cover your eyes if you can't stomach it. 3. Hotel Rwanda -- Don Cheadle aka the "Ladies Man" from SNL. I totally typed-casted him as the the corvoisier drinking man-whore from his NSL days. I did not expect him to do so well in a heavy dudty dram like Hotel Rwanda. Fantastic story (because it was based on true events) and very well told. They should show this movie in schools, to bring awareness to some of the horrible things that happened in Africa. Infact there should be more movies like this so that awareness can be brought out to the masses. I think i'm going to rent something lighter, on my list: 1. Team America 2. Sideways 3.
