Sunday, January 23, 2005 The weather this week was rediculously cold. I don't think it was ever this cold for so many days. Yesterday's "blizzard" sucked ass, althought it was really pretty to look at. I had no choice but ventured outside cuz I was totally out of groceries. A typical 20 minute grocery run ended up being 45 mins log. Worst yet, my headphone wire caught the exit door handle at the mall on the corner of Dundas/Spadina as I was leaving. It broke of course. At least they weren't my nice Sony headphones. GRRR In other news, I decided to head up to Montreal on reading week with my orchestra to do a concert. I think it'll be great since I haven't been there for a while (about 2 years I think). I'm a bit worried though. THe weather there is even colder than Toronto. Although, the stuff to do and see there easily outweigh the cold. yah? Courses this term: So far I like going to 2 of my 4 class The profs are great and they are so incredibally organized! Props to the EM group and Power groups. You know who you are. HAHA. The other two courses are a bit flaky. Especially optics comm. If i hadn't taken optical eng. last term I don't think I would understand ANYTHIHNG. I'm surprised the course is open to comp. eng people, especially when they've never taken any EM and semiconductor devices stuff intensively. It's good for us Elecs i guess. The instructor's gotta dumb things down. Good news is the text is 'ok' and the final and midterms are type 'X', aka open book. The last course, hardware, is a bit screwed. It's the second year that the prof is taching it. So we're more or less guinea pigs still. It has no exams, which is why I decided to take it. The topics supposedly relate to what I did during co-op which is cool too. But there's so much work and the lack of "instructions" kinda suck. That wouldn't matter so much if there was more time to go through the documentations...but I don't. I've a proposal to write for my "final project" which is weighted the same as a final exam. I still have no clue what to do. My partner and I are supposed to make a project using the this multimedia board. posted by Ben | | | 1:24 PM |
