Saturday, May 29, 2004 Bananas are awesome. The best natural laxative ever: effective and delicious. posted by Ben | | | 1:09 PM Being the long weekend, and the parents are coming to visit I needed to rent a car to get around. Initially I was going to settle for a Ford Focus, but ended up getting a 2004 Toyota Prius! Isn't that the coolest? For those who don't know what the Prius is, check it out here. It's an amazingly high-tech car. WIll post some pictures soon! posted by Ben | | | 2:27 AM Friday, May 28, 2004 Ok. This is getting rediculous. These stupid fighter jets from Moffet Field are flying SO close to my office building. I could literally feel them as they fly by (and hear them as well of course). IF any of you army people are reading this, stop practicing! posted by Ben | | | 5:24 PM Stomach troube is back again. I thought I was in the clear but nooooo. I think the Pho noodles I ate last night during dinner was the cause because the dull ache re-appeared when I got home. I am officially back on the pink stuff. I hope this is not a sign of an ulcer. That would really suck. posted by Ben | | | 3:15 PM Thursday, May 27, 2004 Forgive me readers for I have sinned. This afternoon, on my way to San Jose City hall (why was I going there you ask? That would be another blog entry) I had the sudden urge to eat a *gasp* McDonald's Double Cheeseburger from its Dollar Menu. hmmmm burnt meat trans-fats. I'm gonna buy a couple tonight for dinner. posted by Ben | | | 6:50 PM Time is running out! I've finally decided to call the phone (SBC) and cable company (Comcast) to make arrangements to stop services at the end of June. *sigh* the year went by so quickly. I wouldn't miss this place so much if I know I'd be able to come back some day -- maybe for school or to work. My next destination to work/study/work& study : Europe. Preferred European Countries (In no particular order): Sweden, England, Switzerland, Netherlands. posted by Ben | | | 12:08 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2004 I knwo it's late but this is my last blog of the day! My Gaelle Record came! WOOHOOO If you don't know what I'm talking about don't worry! click here posted by Ben | | | 3:34 AM Tuesday, May 25, 2004 After eating nothing but crackers and drinking water and eating JOOK (congee). I'm feeling much much much better. The JOOK was so bland. But hey, it helped. Crap. My costco card expired. posted by Ben | | | 2:48 PM Monday, May 24, 2004 I think I have indigestion :( I have this dull ache in my stomach since yesterday afternoon. I also have this strong urge to eat plain crackers with warm water. Somehow my body thinks crackers might help. Couldn't find any about crackers on web MD though. posted by Ben | | | 3:18 PM Sunday, May 23, 2004 The concert went very well. I am extremely happy about the way it turned out. A few showed up, which was great. Thanks for coming! You know who you are. Funny thing happened on our way to the car. Coming in the opposite direction of the sidewalk we encountered a group of Stanford students heading over to one of the frat houses in the area. There was a big party. Anyways after they passed by, it felt as though we just walked out of an Abercrombie commercial. I found that quite amusing, not only because they all dressed up in that A&F "style" but they were all groomed with that "A&F look". It's scary what $$$ can do. posted by Ben | | | 3:28 AM Saturday, May 22, 2004 So my final SSO concert is tonight. It's been great fun rehearsing with the Stanford crew. I'm definitely going to miss it. Time just passed by so quickly. I still remembered the day when I went to campus to audition for a spot. All good things must come to an end, eventually. It's better to finish it off on a high note so only good memories stay with as opposed to crappy memories. Note to self: must get contact info of SSO members. posted by Ben | | | 4:34 PM Friday, May 21, 2004 Congratulations are in order for one of our fellow blogger users. Film deal for 'Baghdad blogger': "The Baghdad Blog, a book based on an online diary written by an Iraqi man about life during the conflict there, is to be made into a film." First a book, then a movie and it all started at Blogger. Nice! His blog (I think) is located here: http://dear_raed.blogspot.com/ posted by Ben | | | 4:52 PM I usually don't talk about dating and or relationships very much, because, well....I'm no expert. That'll hopefully change in the not-too-distant future ;) The thought of dating came up in my mind after coming across an article that was published in the premier issue of Jasmine. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I suddenly developed an urge to date or anything. I'm perfectly happy being single...for now. My question is that do Asian girls prefer to date non-Asian men over Asian men? Inter-racial relationships are quite prevalent down here in Cali, and I suppose it's becoming a trend back home in Canada as well. Most relationships of this sort is almost always Asian woman and non-Asian man. Yes, there are Asian-man-non-Asian-woman couples out there, but they seem quite rare. Are the points given in the article valid and applicable to most Canadians and Americans of Asian descent? To me it seems like it's coming from personal experience. On a side note, the movie Super Size Me got its little section on MSN today. Yay. I hope this movie will make an impact on the lifestyles of the not-so-healthy. posted by Ben | | | 2:39 AM Wednesday, May 19, 2004 Two of the 15 co-ops are now back in Canada. Boy did time just fly by. Already another year. I'm looking forward to going back to school. The change of environment would be good. Problem is, I need to find an apartment that's within walking distance to class. HELP! posted by Ben | | | 11:26 PM Why I Like Gmail: Gmail is fast. I mean, really fast compared to even Yahoo mail. Enough said. The ads are not annoying at all, unlike its competitors. It's so easy to tune them out because they seem to blend in with the rest of the interface. At least the ads are related to the subject of the email, which most of the time is pretty helpful. There are also "related pages" which are NOT ads at all. I am so sick of Lavalife or Match.com banners appearing on my hotmail account. Sorting emails rock. Creating labels is like creating a folder in outlook. All emails related to the same chain is grouped together. No sorting necessary! I've been using Gmail for almost a month (1 month this Friday). It still says "You are using 0% of your 1000MB quota". That totally rocks. For those of you who think that Gmail is still an invasion of privacy, please refer to my post on May 5, 2004. posted by Ben | | | 8:20 PM Sunday, May 16, 2004 Bad diet, lack of exercise and a sedentary life style, it's no wonder obesity amongs people in America is becoming an issue. The fast food restaurants and junk food doesn't help either. I was pretty disturbed after watching the aptly named documentary Super Size Me, where the writer/director 'experimented' with eating nothing but McDonald's for 30 days. It's as bad smoking or alcohol abuse or drug abuse. People whose diet is high in fat, sugar and cholesterol should seriously re-examine their eating habits and incorporate healthier foods into their meals. posted by Ben | | | 2:41 AM Friday, May 14, 2004 Internet In your pants: crazy about bluetooth posted by Ben | | | 3:16 AM Thursday, May 13, 2004 Two things: 1. Very useful file sending service at: www.yousendit.com 2. I called Japan today (work related). They have very interesting ring sounds. posted by Ben | | | 7:31 PM Wednesday, May 12, 2004 Those Iraqi guys that beheaded the American civilian is just totally sick. I am so disturbed by the event, it's heard for me to even put it in words. There has got to be other ways to "retaliate". How can someone possibly take another person's life without any remorse? Don't they have any concience?! The shit going on in Iraq totally fucked up. Sometimes it's better not to read the newspaper or watch the news. posted by Ben | | | 11:40 PM Monday, May 10, 2004 Camping out in the forest over the weekend made me realize that we should do our best to preserve the environment. I never really appreciated what nature had to offer before this trip. Partly because I was about 12 the last time I went out to the forest. On the drive over to the camp grounds (and back), I came across many sections of forest that was just completely cut away by loggers. I found it a bit disturbing. I mean, the magnitude of the particular section is probably small compared to logging sites in Canada or in the rain forest! posted by Ben | | | 3:53 PM Wednesday, May 05, 2004 Some good reasons why all this controversy around Gmail is BS: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/4707 posted by Ben | | | 3:29 AM Sunday, May 02, 2004 I was given a link to an article on Friday which talkes about how the American Soldiers are mistreating Iraqi prisoners. I guess that's what happens when you put 18 and 19 year-old marines in charge. I'm really dissapointed at these people, and makes me proud to be Canadian. posted by Ben | | | 4:13 PM It seems as though there's something going on every weekend. Trip out to Japantown and Berkeley last weekend and Monterey Bay the weekend prior. It's a good thing because I'll be flying out of the Bay Area *really* soon. This weekend was no exception. Activity: PAINTBALL! A fairly large group of us went out yesterday -- about 30 in total. Even a few co-ops from Cypress Semiconductor came out as well. Being my first time, it took me a while to get used to the pain of being hit by those balls. It doesn't hurt much if the ball breaks as it hits you. But sometimes, they don't! And those really really hurt. Helmets with eye and mouth guard was mandatory equipment. It protected my face but not the top of my head! Should've brought a baseball cap along. It was definitely a lesson learned, because you get hit a lot in the head since you are bobbing up and down trying to see where the other team is. All in all, I walked a way with a few bruises (mostly on my arm and fingers) a lot of paint on my hair. posted by Ben | | | 4:11 PM |
